Rob Walker Freer

Mr. Freer currently is the head of Keswick Associates LLC, a small family office based in Charlottesville, Virginia. He also is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Silvercrest Jefferson Fund which is based in Richmond, VA.  Until March 2017, he served as a Managing Director at the University of Virginia Investment Management Company (“UVIMCO”) with primary responsibility for Private Equity and Venture Capital.  He was also a member of UVIMCO’s Investment Committee. Over the course of his thirty-six-year career at UVIMCO, Mr. Freer started the venture capital program in 1988, the real estate program in 1993, and the oil and gas/buyout program in the mid-1990s. During his tenure at UVIMCO, the endowment grew from $177 million to $8.3 billion.

Prior to joining UVIMCO, Mr. Freer was a practicing attorney in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and as a JAG Officer in the legal branch of the U.S. Army (“The Judge Advocate General’s Corps”). Mr. Freer served in the military as an active duty Infantry Officer and as a Captain in The Judge Advocate General’s Corps. After active duty, he served twenty-three years in the U.S. Army Reserve with assignments at The Judge Advocate General’s School in Charlottesville, VA and at the Pentagon.  He concluded his Army Reserve career as a Colonel. Mr. Freer received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Maryland and a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law.
